Nourished Children approaches nutrition differently. We focus on foods that support the body in the best way. We implement healthy eating habits that our children can remember for the rest of their lives. This course will guide parents into creating healthy food relationships with their children. Nourished Children is meant for ages 1-18, but can be implemented for anyone in the family. Yes, even the parents

Hi, my name is Crina...

I’m a nurse, a family nurse practitioner student, and a mother. I have an undeniably huge passion for health and helping others.

As a practitioner in allopathic medicine, I stand out because I place a strong emphasis on nutrition. I assess a person’s lifestyle before I assess their vitals and symptoms. There are so many questions that we need to be asking, but most have completely missed the mark. We just don’t have…the time. The healthcare system moves at a very fast pace and it’s hard to keep up. I hope that I can make changes from the outside-in, maybe bridge some gaps.

This is when I realized that I could provide education that could help keep people out of the healthcare system.

I have an entire list of ideas, where I can address each individual type of patient. From child to geriatric, female to male, pregnancy to menopause, and so much more.

Primary care and prevention is a lost trade. One of the best ways to go about it, is through education. Since we live in such a fast-paced world, you’ll find very little education at your doctor’s office. Typically, they send you off with handouts.

We need to do better. We need to provide better. I hope I can do that for anyone who is willing to learn!

Intro

I begin the course with a small introduction to myself and my mission with this course. We set the standards of the course with 6 reminders that we need to repeat to ourselves daily. These reminders take the stress off the entire process of change. We all know that sometimes change can be difficult. I also go into the concept of unlearning, which is important to understand moving forward through the course.

Module 1: The Basics of Nutrition

The nutrition discussion can go in many different ways. I try to touch on the main points you need to know about nutrition. From macronutrients to micronutrients to calories, you will have the important details about each individual lesson. I break it down in a way that makes it easy for you to understand. That way, you can incorporate nutritional changes into your children’s life by knowing the “why” behind your decisions.

Module 2: Anatomy and Physiology of Digestion

I believe understanding the way digestion works is an important aspect of establishing foundational nutritional concepts. I specifically break down blood sugar dysregulation because it’s an important reason why we want to balance our children’s food in a specific way (carb:protein:fat ratios). We finish up with understanding the basal metabolic rate so that we can incorporate the right amount of calories for our (very individual) children. The only time we count calories (regarding our children), is to make sure we are properly balancing their macronutrients and feeding them enough calories.

Module 3: The Truth About Veggies

What if I told you that greens aren’t really a priority in this course? I took a big risk here but I wanted to make sure that I address these very important factors about vegetables. There’s a lot to consider and these lessons don’t really coincide with mainstream nutrition advice. For example, broccoli isn’t that big of a deal? If you’re children don’t like it, don’t feel guilty! I explain my reasoning behind keeping legumes, nuts, seeds, and grains at minimum. That, or soaking/fermenting properly. I finish up with vegetable we do like and should offer to our children.

Module 4: Fruit is our Friend

Most parents are happy to hear that fruit should be a prioritized carbohydrate in our children’s diet. We’ll discuss purchasing fruit, while being budget friendly since fruit makes up the majority of a grocery bill. I’m a huge fan of fruit juice, but there are few things to take into consideration. We discuss that here. I also really want to exemplify the importance of pairing fruit with a protein, which is done at the end of this discussion.

Module 5: Water and Hydration

We’re in a place where we automatically assume water is hydrating, but we don’t take a few things into consideration. You might surprised to find out that most of the water we are drinking is causing dehydration! We’ll discuss the issues with our current water system and the importance of water filtration. I explain the importance of adding minerals back in to our mineral-depeleted water. I even offer a bonus module on using herbs to promote hydration in your children.

Module 6: Make Milk Great Again

We quickly go over the benefits of milk, a true superfood. There are so many benefit to dairy, but it’s been scrutinized over the last fifty years. I think there’s a lot to take into consideration which is what we go over in this module. This is one of those foods where I don’t skimp on the quality. I help you understand what to look for in dairy products and how to read your labels

Module 7: Budgeting&Sourcing

When you know where your food comes from, you begin to prioritize different things. I always recommend purchasing within your means, but knowing this information helps us make an informed decision. The ultimate goal is feeding our families the highest quality food at our personal budget. This looks different for everyone, but I do give practical tips that can be applied in many circumstances. For those still having trouble with sourcing, the Facebook page is where we can work together to find a solution for you!

Module 8: Obstacles We May Face

From selective eaters to lack of time, the struggles are very very real. I’ve noticed that most parents struggle with these obstacles to some degree. Each day can look so different from the next. I focused on providing practical and realistic tips. The Facebook community page will also be the place where we share those individual wins and losses. It’s really going to help hone in on the special cases!

Putting it All Together

I finish up this entire conversation by summarizing what is most important versus what is not important at all when regarding nutrition for our children. Sometimes, it’s easy to get caught up win all the things you’re supposed to do that you don’t remember the wins. Small wins are still wins. The entire course is supposed to be used as a guide to slowly make the nutritional choices that will support your children’s body and health

FAQ's

Does the course address food allergies in kids?

I address dairy intolerance in this course because I believe dairy products are valuable nutrient-dense foods. I go over the cause of lactose intolerance and solutions. This course doesn’t go over food allergies (some make a course on this lol) because that is a very complex topic that requires much more understanding than I able to offer at this time. I understand that there are many DF & GF children and I believe that stems from metabolic dysfunction, which IS addressed in the course. You may find that there are changes that could be made to provide a diet that better supports the metabolism.

What are the ages this course is geared towards?

I designed this course in a way so it can be applied to all ages. even parents. What i don’t go over is, introduction of foods to a baby. Another topic for a good course that we need. I would say that the more targeted age would be above the age of one to eighteen (and possible up). I also discuss caloric needs for different ages and balancing macronutrients to support their body. For example, regulating their blood sugar with balanced snacks that have carbs and protein!

Does the course go over supplementation?

I am currently working on a supplementation course, but with no release date. This is a topic I am very passionate about and want to make sure I get it right. I will have a Facebook group available to anyone who purchases the course where we can have these discussions in-depth. I also take clients 1:1 and if that’s something that interest you, please email me at [email protected]

How is the course set up?

This is a presentation-style course where I pop up in a tiny little screen on each slide/lesson and discuss in detail. The slides have visual representation that could be beneficial in understanding, but you could totally listen to it like a podcast. Maybe go back and reference the slides! This is completely self-paced and you will have access to it for life!

Will there be recipes?

I won’t be providing any recipes in this course! You can find all my recipes on my Instagram (@naturalwayswithcrina) for free! The Facebook group will be a place where we can share recipes with each other, too. I do however address time constraints in the course and solutions on how to manage time and prioritize nutrition!

Is this course just for parents?

No way! I would recommend it to healthcare practitioners, nanny’s, teachers, or anyone who works with children. This course was created to establish a nutritional foundation in our children that sets them up for a healthy future. We can reduce the risk of illness in our next generations simply by making better nutritional choices for them.

Do you offer refunds?

This course can be downloaded. Due to that nature, it is NON refundable once purchased. If there are any tech issues, we will work together to fix them so that you can have full access to the course.

Can I share my log-in with anyone?

You are not authorized to share log-in with anyone OUTSIDE of the home. With that being said, spouse, children, and any other family member living inside of the home may have access to this information to learn for themselves! Sharing your log-in with anyone outside of the home is a form of theft and you will be subjected to losing access to the course, private Facebook community page, and my Instagram account.
